St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at Treadwell Park

St. Patrick's Day Celebration at Treadwell Park

St. Patrick’s Day is only a week away but people have already started celebratingout on Long Island. Since the first weekend in March, there has been a parade out on the Island every weekend in different towns. Main Street closes down throughout the towns for a parade of local fire departments, traditional pipe bands, high school bands, and of course Irish Dancers.  Everyone is wearing green whether they’re Irish or Not. Local businesses and restaurants welcome the loud wild crowds with outdoor tents filled food and drinks specials. It’s a time were local communitiescan gather around and enjoy a day of being carefree. All of these little parades lead up to the infamous New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade on the 17th. Luckily, this year St. Patrick’s Day lands on a Friday. #TGIF.

The parade runs along 5th Avenue between 44th Street and 79th and it’s quite an experience. If you get the opportunity to attend, this year’s celebration chances are you’ll work up an appetite for traditional Irish dishes and Brews. If you want more than green beer and the popular Guinness, head to the Upper East Side to Treadwell Park. Additionally, you’ll beat the mid-town crowds and over crowded bars.

Treadwell Park – (1125 1st Avenue, NYC) is the place to get your grub and drink on this year with their specialty Irish brews. This beer hall and restaurant will be serving classic Irish beers on draft from The Porterhouse Brewing Companyalong with a flavorful old-styled corn beef sandwich special. The porterhouse Brewing Company specializes in importing various beers from around the world with a keen eye on Belgium. Enjoy some of Ireland’s original craft brews with your pals and really get into the festivities. Not only will there be craft beers available but you can also glup down on one of their Beer Floats. One of the crowd’s favorite is the Sicilian Lemone Sorbetto with Radeberger Pilsner with a garnish of a lime and zest.
